Frequently feeling tired (actually falling asleep) in chair.

A slight tingling of the hands (off and on).

Occassional pain in one of the upper arm joints (only for a couple seconds).

As you can tell I'm worried.

Thank you MrsCheater.

I'm a real "baby" when it comes to checking my own stuff like BP at one of those do it yourself places.
I'm going to ask my doctor to make a decision on May 10th one way or the other about meds. This "borderline" numbers is making me CRAZY.

NP whos, they say ignorance is bliss, but not when it comes to your health. and best to check your BP at those machines at the store too, cause some people have "white coat syndrome" which means your blood pressure rises when you go to see your doc. i certainly have it, and im not ever nervous about going to the doctor, ever. so if u have borderline when u go to the doc, be sure to check it out in non stressed situations.

I went to Walmart yesterday to do a self check at a mchine they had in the Pharmacy dept. It had been removed.
Guess they aren't available any more. I did see where they have some for sale. Are they simple to use at home. How do you know when it's tight enough to read the figs?
Anyone bought one for home use--what brand. Several available at Walmart.

my mom bought one, brand name, i dunno...and i think it did a good job..but there should be a guide on how to make sure u have the right size. and u can also ask the pharmacist. that would be a good idea for you, but ask them to make sure u get the right size. i dont think they would be one size fits all, since that isnt true in real world BP checks, but if u are average size the average cuff would work.

Stressing over it will play tricks with your mind though...you may or may not have a problem but I do know first hand stressing over any medical condition can make you feel things you otherwise may not feel.

As we age (I'm sure you know) the number can go up and still be considered in the safe zone.

Thanks Harry for that info. I had forgotten that several years ago--I asked my doc about the tingling in my hands. He sent me for xrays of the back and spine, etc...They said I had "degenerative disc".

The sleepiness has disappeared the last few days...maybe because of increased walking each day and sleeping a bit better at night.
